I can talk all day long about emotions, expressing them yet it won’t help if you’re not aware of your own processes. I can almost hear the question being asked, “then why not start with awareness before going into the emotions?” Well just what do you think I was doing by going into those emotions the way I did? Making you aware. Only through awareness can we take that next conscious step into becoming a better version of ourselves.

Now that the foundation has been set, we can take a much bigger leap. Gleaning awareness into our own patterns, habits, personas and emotions can be a tricky business. There’s a reason the saying “ignorance is bliss” exists. Whether by choice or because we just don’t know, ignorance allows us to forgo the act of taking responsibility. This is something that we as a people are sorely lacking. Taking responsibility for our actions and our own state of being.

To place that on it’s head for a moment many of us are also quite good at taking too much responsibility. Yes that’s actually a thing. Start paying attention to it and you might just see you do it more then you thought.

Even though becoming more “aware” of who you are and how you operate can be challenging, I have yet to meet anyone that walks this path that once they take their first steps they regretted it an wanted to turn back. If anything it spurs them on to go even deeper.

As the awareness of your behaviors grows you’ll start picking up on new and interesting patterns. You’ll start to get curious as to where these patterns may have originated in your life. This causes even more curiosity and soon you may find yourself researching or exploring all matter of things. However, I’ve found that the real richness in this work is doing those deep dives and delving in your own history and stories. Looking into those experiences in your own life (no matter how traumatic they may have been) and how those things affected and shaped who you are today. Even seemingly inconsequential experiences can play a major role in defining or shaping a behavior.

Having this awareness and doing this work isn’t always easy. The more aware you become to yourself, the experiences you have and the more deep dives into yourself you do the more can come up that may need to be worked through. However, that’s also where the gold in it all lies.

Suddenly it all changes. You’ve garnered some new insight on a particularly tricky pattern you’ve discovered. Granted this pattern may never go away %100 but this awareness gives you space from whatever this thing is. You start picking up on it more and more, observing it, learning from it and just like that it doesn’t have nearly as much control over you as it once did. You’d be amazed at what you can achieve with this awareness.

Once you take the time to really work with those things, shift through them not only does it change your perspective but it shifts your whole energetic field.

Bottom line I can’t express enough how valuable awareness is. Learning your triggers, working with your patterns… I guarantee it’ll change your life for the better.

There’s something really exciting and juicy about venturing down the rabbit hole and finding out just how deep it goes.

Perhaps the better question is just how far down your own rabbit hole are you willing to go? Don’t shy away from your own “darkness.” Believe me not only is it not nearly as scary as you think it is but you have no idea the riches that lie there waiting for you to discover them.
