I stand alone… motionless in the Darkness… waiting…
With a subtle eye blink He stands with me, before me, monstrous, huge yet not a threatening bone in His body. I have to stand on my toes to reach His snout and even then He comes down on one knee for me. An honoring and mutual respect of the space we come from.
We share a moment and take each other in, allowing our energies to harmonize.
I close my eyes and feel the air move past me as He inhales and push against me as He exhales. Feeling the warmth of His breath, the slight whistle of the air as it rushes past me… His lungs moving like massive bellows cramps.
There is an intense thrum in the air, the energy building steadily, cracks of lightning building in the periphery yet they make no sound. Behind it all resides the thumping of His huge heart, like a gentle pulse beating in the background.
I look upon Him… such a soft and gentle face. Soft fur and massive curled horns resting easily and gracefully on His head. Layers of them… one building on and curling upon the other. They are crusted and battered with time, age and use for this one is ancient. Yet that makes them no less powerful or beautiful, each one spiraling like the intricate web of the nautilus shell.
He stamps his hooves in anticipation… an eager look in His eye, He knows why He is here… the work that is to be done. For once this one gains in momentum there are no blocks, no obstacles, no challenges that can stand in His path. It is one of the most important and sacred duties this one provides.
We turn together, looking down the path of things yet to come… I rest my hand on His foreleg feeling the muscles twitch with joy and anticipation…
With a thunderous crack we’re hurtling down the space, moving, breathing, charging as one. Our eyes not on the looming obstacle, rather resting keenly on the soft golden light of the horizon.
We lower our heads to bring our horns to bear on the first challenge ahead…
A single thought courses through our minds… “I am here… I am ready.”
